Affiliate Disclaimer

Jaxomo is a labor of love, and to help support the time and resources that go into running the blog, I participate in affiliate marketing programs. This Affiliate Disclaimer explains what that means:

Some of the outbound links on jaxomo.com are “affiliate links.” This means that if you click on one of these special links and then make a purchase, I may earn a small commission or referral reward at no extra cost to you. It’s a little thank-you from the retailer for referring you. For example, as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Other programs might include fashion or beauty retailers’ affiliate networks.

Here’s what you should know about affiliate links on Jaxomo:

  • Honest Recommendations: I only link to products or services that I genuinely like, have used, or want to try. The presence of an affiliate link does not influence what I say about a product. My reviews and opinions are 100% my own, and I’ll never promote something just for a commission. If I love a $10 lipstick and it has no affiliate program, I’ll still rave about it. If an expensive beauty gadget has an affiliate link but didn’t impress me, I’ll tell you the drawbacks or not feature it at all. Integrity comes first.

  • Transparency: Whenever a post or page contains affiliate links, I strive to make that clear to you. You might see a note at the top or bottom of a blog post stating it “may contain affiliate links.” If a link is in the text like “Buy here,” often it will be an affiliate link. If you’re ever unsure, feel free to ask me. On social media, I use tags like #affiliate or #ad when posting affiliate link content as per platform guidelines. The goal is that you’re never “tricked” into clicking a monetized link – you’ll be aware of it.

  • No Additional Cost: Purchasing through an affiliate link does not cost you anything extra. The price of the item is the same whether you go through my link or directly to the website. In some cases, my link might even unlock a discount (for instance, if I have a partnership with a brand that gives readers a promo code). If any such benefit exists, I will mention it. Rest assured, you’re not paying a premium to support Jaxomo; the commission comes out of the retailer’s pocket, not yours.

  • Affiliate Programs: To be transparent, here are some affiliate programs Jaxomo currently participates in (as of the latest update): Amazon Associates (for a wide range of products linked to on Amazon), possibly fashion retail networks like RewardStyle/LTK or ShopStyle Collective (if I link to clothing or beauty products from various brands), and any specific brand affiliate programs I might join (e.g., Sephora’s or Ulta’s affiliate program for beauty products). This list may change over time. I’ll update this disclaimer if I join or leave major programs. Each of these programs has its own tracking and cookies (see the Cookie Policy), but they essentially serve the same purpose – to track referrals from Jaxomo.

  • Your Support: If you choose to shop through an affiliate link on Jaxomo, thank you! It’s one of the ways the site earns a bit of revenue to cover web hosting, domain costs, and maybe a new lipstick or two to review. 🙂 That said, there’s never an obligation. I want you to feel no pressure: only use the links if you’re comfortable. If you prefer not to use affiliate links, you can always search for the product on your own. I’m grateful just for your readership; the commissions are a bonus that help me keep creating content.

  • No Influence on Content: Jaxomo’s content is driven by my passions and reader interests, not by affiliate commissions. There will be plenty of posts with no affiliate links at all (like general tips, personal stories, etc.). When I do include product links, it’s because I find them relevant to the topic and potentially useful for you. The presence of an affiliate program is secondary. In fact, sometimes I might not even realize a brand has an affiliate program until after I’ve decided to mention the product; if so, I might then use an affiliate link, but the decision to feature the product was made independently.

  • Sponsored Content vs. Affiliate Links: Affiliate links are not the same as sponsored content. With affiliate links, I’m not paid just to post; I only earn if you (and other readers) genuinely find value and make a purchase. It’s performance-based. Sponsored content, on the other hand, would mean a brand paid me to write a post or review. If I ever publish a sponsored post, it will be clearly labeled as such (e.g., “Sponsored by [Brand]” or “[Brand] partnered with me for this post”). Affiliate links can appear in sponsored posts too, but sponsorship would always be disclosed separately. You can refer to the General Disclosure for more on how I handle sponsored or gifted stuff.

In summary, affiliate links are a way for me to recommend products I love (or think you might love) and potentially earn a small commission as a reward for referring a sale. It’s a common practice among bloggers and doesn’t compromise the authenticity of my content. Your trust is paramount, so I’d rather lose out on a commission than mislead you about a product. If you have any questions about affiliate links or want to know if a particular link is an affiliate link, you can always reach out to me at hello@jaxomo.com.

Thank you for supporting Jaxomo – whether it’s through clicking links, shopping via the blog, or simply reading and engaging with the content. I appreciate you!
